Carz R Us Acquires Ernie’s Auto Repair, Plans Major Renovations and Service Expansion
Local automotive company acquires established business with plans of rebranding and bringing enhanced capabilities
Carz R Us would like to announce the acquisition of Ernie’s Auto Repair, a long-standing automotive repair facility located at 7800 North 2nd Street. The acquisition allows Carz R Us to add on a second location while significantly expanding their service capabilities and modernizing that facility for the community.
“We’re super excited to build upon the foundation that Ernie’s has established over the years,” said Matt Aukes, owner of Carz R Us. “Rather than starting from scratch, we’re taking a business that customers already knew and trusted and elevating it with our quality standards and expanded services.”
The acquisition includes a larger facility than the flagship location of Carz R Us. The new location features four service bays with drive-on racks. The expanded space will enable the company to perform alignments on extended cab vehicles and larger trucks, which are services previously unavailable at their current location. A distinctive straight drive-through bay can accommodate mid-size vehicles, thus creating opportunities for specialized detailing and commercial vehicle services.
Carz R Us is investing significantly in renovating the facility, including complete bathroom remodels, lobby updates, fresh paint throughout, new roofing, upgraded electrical systems and plumbing systems, improved lighting, new signage, mildew prevention treatment, and a new awning. The comprehensive renovation involves several locally trusted contractors including BP Roofing Solutions, Gruner Electric, Allen Heating & Cooling, Black Spark Painting, and Fixzer Construction.
The rebranded location is scheduled to reopen approximately August 25th, 2025 under the Carz R Us name, maintaining continuity of automotive services while introducing enhanced capabilities to the area. Customers can expect special promotions to celebrate the relaunch, with attractive deals timed for the upcoming fall tire season.
